E85 App ("we," "us," or "the app") helps drivers find E85 ethanol fuel stations, see prices, and calculate fuel blends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over your data. We built the app to collect as little as it needs to work.
Information we collect
Location. With your permission, the app uses your device location while you're using it to show E85 stations near you and sort them by distance. Location is used on-device to query nearby stations; we do not sell it or build advertising profiles from it. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings — the app still works using a map you pan manually.
Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address (or the identifier from Sign in with Apple / Google), your chosen username, and an optional display name and avatar. An account is only required to contribute data and earn rewards — you can browse stations, prices, and the calculator without one.
Your contributions. When you submit a station, report a price or fuel blend, leave a tip, upload a photo, or verify a listing, we store that content along with your user ID and a timestamp so the community can rely on it and you can earn XP.
Vehicle & calculator data. Vehicles you add to your garage and calculations you run are stored to power compatibility checks, the blend calculator, and your savings history. This is tied to your account (or kept on-device for guests).
Device & usage data. Like most apps, we collect basic technical and diagnostic information (device model, OS version, crash logs, and anonymized usage events) to keep the app stable and improve it.
Advertising identifier. The free app shows ads. With your permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may access your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. If you decline tracking, you still see ads — they're just less personalized. Premium subscribers and ad-free users see no ads.
How we use your information
We use the data above to: show nearby E85 stations and prices; run the blend calculator and savings tracking; let you create and manage an account and contribute community data; operate the rewards/leaderboard system; serve and measure ads in the free tier; provide support; and keep the app secure and working.
Service providers we share with
We don't sell your personal information. We share limited data with the providers that run the app's infrastructure:
Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, crash reporting) hosts your account and contributions. Google AdMob serves ads in the free tier. Apple handles app distribution, Sign in with Apple, and subscription billing. These providers process data under their own privacy policies and only as needed to provide their service to us. Public station data is sourced from GasBuddy and the U.S. Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC).
Public contributions: prices, tips, blends, photos, and your username are visible to other users by design — that's what makes the community data useful. Don't put anything private in a contribution.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and contribution data while your account is active. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from inside the app (Profile → account settings → delete account). Deleting your account removes your profile and the personal data tied to it; some community contributions may be retained in anonymized form so shared data (like a confirmed price) stays accurate. You can also email us to request deletion.
Your choices
You control location and tracking permissions in iOS Settings. You can edit or delete your profile in the app, opt out of personalized ads by declining App Tracking Transparency, and remove ads entirely with a premium subscription. To exercise any privacy right or ask a question, contact us below.
Children
E85 App is rated 4+ and is intended for drivers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected here at e85app.com/privacy.
